Reform of Charitable Fundraising Laws
In February 2023, the Commonwealth, State and Territory treasurers all agreed to a set of nationally consistent fundraising principles. This is a significant step forward in fundraising rules which have been historically State based and inconsistent, causing charities headaches in complying with multiple requirements.
The new principles will require States and Territories to revise their regulation and legislation. Their implementation plans are set to be released by July 2023.
Once implemented, it is anticipated that it will save charities time and cost in fundraising compliance.
