We
previously announced the launch of a project to commemorate our
25 years in the City of
Whitehorse. In partnership with World Vision and Entrust, we set out
to raise money for the World Vision
Economic Development project in the Pailin and Samlot regions of
Cambodia that will stimulate and develop the local economies. The
project, started in December 2008 and with another 2 years to run,
requires another $130,000.
An incredible outcome
Our target was to raise $32,500. With the Australian Government
through AusAID providing $3 for every $1 raised, the project would be
completed over the next 2 years. Saward Dawson and Entrust committed to
covering all overhead costs ensuring all monies raised go directly to
the project. In a recent announcement by AusAid, they have committed to
raising their support ratio to 5:1 which will significantly enable World
Vision to do more to help those living in poverty to improve their
livelihoods. With this change in AusAid policy, the over all funds for
the Economic Development project in Cambodia will significantly increase
and allow the projects to be expanded in the region.
Thanks to the generosity of our clients and friends, the final total
raised was over $35,000. Together with the latest announcement from
AusAid and World Vision, the contributions made to this project will go
much further (approx. $210,000) than we had originally expected. We will
be working with Entrust and World Vision to ensure that the additional
funds will be used on these projects and we will keep you informed of
the outcomes.
