We are pleased to partner with
World Vision
and Entrust to
change the lives of people in Cambodia.
Why Cambodia
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Asia with vast numbers of
people living below the poverty line. Economic development must take
place at the family level in order to maximise the impact and help the
poor and vulnerable communities.
Project objectives
World Vision's Economic Development project stimulates and develops
local economies in the Pailin and Samlot regions by working with
communities to identify effective methods to develop existing businesses
and start up new ones. World Vision's approach empowers communities by
helping them to address the issues that keep them poor and give
them skills that will enable them to pull themselves out of poverty.
Teaching and development
Poor people are taught to run businesses effectively. Specific
opportunities are identified that will impact the community in the
quickest possible time. In the regions we are targeting, people have
been helped to more effectively grow corn, vegetables, longan,
mushrooms, seeds, raise pigs and develop agriculture.
People are taught how to increase farm yields, bookkeeping, finances,
marketing and how to access organisations that can further help them.
Timeframe and target
This World Vision project started in December 2008 and has another 2
years to run. Total funding required to complete the next 2 years is
$130,000. The Australian Government through AusAID will provide $3 for
every $1 raised. Therefore: our target is to raise $32,500.
Entrust have committed to add 15% on top of the monies raised and
together with Saward Dawson, have ensured that 100% of monies raised
will directly be spent on the project.
Please contact Saward Dawson if you would like more information about
this life changing project.
